Are you tired of all that superfluous emails that you never even solicit, commercials of all sorts that simply are too nagging and disturb you when you want to use the email? This is known as spam and it is a disease of the Internet. To fight spam is not easy, but you can do some things to avoid spam.
So, what is spam anyway? It is generally defined as any unsolicited mail, of a commercial nature or not, which is sent to an ample list of addresses. Spam has multiple contents, from ads, porn, sexual activity boosting pills, and promises to make you loaded and so on. Spam just pops in your email box and may be irritating many times, as the emails keep on coming and they get more and more aggressive.
On the other hand, spam is not only an email that you don’t want, but it is also an exploitation of your computer confidentiality. Some spam may contain diverse malware that will jump in your computer once you open such an email with unknown but appealing content. Sometimes, it suffices to visualize the emails, without even opening them, and there you go- you get your malware. The malware can have different effects on your computer- it may come in the form of a virus, rendering your PC a Zombie computer (a computer controlled by malicious people)- which gives way to stealing essential stored data, or even bigger- identity theft or fraud. In addition, your PC will slow down due to the malware and can also break. So, as you can see, the spam has some benefits for those that send them- they can get hold of some data or card numbers and so on. Even sending the most harmless junk mail is a profitable business. For each person that clicks on the links enclosed in the spam mail, the spam sender gets $ 0.01. Just imagine how many of these mails one can send a day, and there are still people out there who click on spam links so… sending spam is a money-spinning business. And this is why it is difficult to fight spam.
E-mail has been serving all humankind a great favor, however, junk mail is one major drawback of this amazing invention. Mlaware filters have been invented to fight spam, still, spam has become more and more difficult to trace.
However, the best thing to do to fight spam is to enable a valid spam firewall. In this way, your email account will be saved from these unwanted emails. In some cases, the spam will appear in your bulk section; sometimes you won’t even get the email with dubious contents. One more thing: stay away from these emails and don’t even think about clicking on any dream-come-true promising email. It may cost you dearly and by saying no to these emails you can contribute to stopping this vast and annoying process called spam.
