According to Reuters, the genetic experiments made by the American doctor Andrew French are based on a secret manner. These experiments are very successful, states the famous press agency. That is why Dr. French has been considered the first to create human being in laboratory. What is the most impressive is that French created five embryons just by collecting cells taken from his patients’ skins.
The genetic engineering American company Stemagen from California has officially declared that it cloned humans in order to save incurable diseases. But the one who looked after the entire cloning process was Dr. French, helped by research workers. Thus, he used some cells from the skins belonging to two of his volunteer patients and succeeded in “giving birth” to five embyons. According to ultimate verifications, the scientists led by Dr. French discovered that only three from the five embyons were actually clones of the two patients. The company’s representatives stated that the embryons had been destroyed during the verification process from Dr. French’s laboratory.
Under these circumstances, the doctor explained that even though his work represents an essential phase in developing the cells useful for therapeutic cloning, some other tests have to be made in order to verify these clones’ results as well as their applicability.
Nonetheless, Dr. French is not the first to try cloning human beings, as a couple of specialists from the British Newcastle University made effort as well in this direction in 2005, but failed, especially because the Church reproved their acts.
Surprisingly, in 2004 a doctor called Hwang Woo-suk declared he succeeded in creating the first cloned human embyons but, despite this, an international research commission drew the conclusion that his statement were false and eventually accused him of fraud.
Before Dr. French’s experiments, all the others had failed because they could not be scientifically demonstrated. So, this is why the American is the first doctor to create clones.
