Women, more than men have trouble sleeping once in a while, and this is due to many factors. Take a look at the tips on insomnia to benefit of a quality sleep.
Insomnia or the impossibility to sleep is determined in most cases by a phenomenon called anxiety. Stress is among other insomnia causes, and another important one is tiredness: yes, I repeat, tiredness: when you are too tired, you might experience insomnia.
So, what to do? Well, don’t rush to the pharmacy and get some over the counter sleeping pills, because many of these have side effects and you may be treating one condition while getting another. Instead, you can check out the following insomnia treatments.
1. First of all, determine the insomnia causes for you. Are you stressed, are there any things bothering you presently which trigger the insomnia and the impossibility of sleep? Write these down or talk to your spouse or friend about them. By talking about them, you will feel released and you will be able to relax a bit.
2. Use your bedroom just for sleep, don’t use it as a study room. Mixing the two worlds will make it difficult for you to draw the line and state that you have finished work and went on to sleep or relax.
3. Next, try out some relaxation techniques. For example, scented candles are just great to disconnect you from a busy day. An aromatherapy bath is excellent when you have some time for it. Yoga may also work for you, but if it sounds too complicated, go for 30 minutes of infrared sauna.
4. Drink some warm milk before going to bed.
5. Also, change your clothes into something more comfy and which will tell your brain that the working day is over so it is time to sleep.
6. Forget about coffee after 6 o’clock in the afternoon. Caffeine will only make you agitated and will probably induce insomnia.
7. Last, but not least, do some exercise in the evening. This will exhaust you physically, and will help you sleep better. Even if exercising sounds too pretentious, go for a long walk with a friend or with your dog. It will mean a lot as an insomnia treatment.
So, next time you have no sleep, instead of counting sheep, follow the tips above, and you might sleep like a baby.
