Are you in the mood for a light romantic movie? Get your hands on the 2007 My Blueberry Nights, staring Jude Law, Norah Jones, Natalie Portman, and Rachel Weisz. The MY Blueberry Nights is directed by Wong Kar Wai, a Hong Kong film director.
When ending a relationship, people tend to abandon the keys to the ex’s apartment as a symbol of this sad ending. Take a bowl filled with such keys and place it in a café in New York where Jude Law-Jeremy (in this movie) works; this is already an attractive scene. Then, a broken hearted lady- Norah Jones comes in the café and adds another key to the bowl. This is what stirs things up a little. She is vulnerable, and Jude Law is in the mood for a chat. Women tend to eat in order to get over failed relationships, or so they say, and Elisabeth (Norah Jones) does so too, eating huge amounts of blueberry pie at the earlier mentioned café. She likes blueberry pie, though everyone who dines in that café seems to forget about blueberry pie.
As a matter of fact, both characters have their keys in that bowl of sadness and the solution to their relationship issues is right on the table (two broken hearted people who like each other…how simple is that), but Elisabeth chooses to go round the US but she does not forget the Blueberry Nights. She works in a diner during the day and in a club at night and she also meets some people and acquires some life experience so she finally forgets about her failed love. Meanwhile, Jeremy settles his accounts with his ex as well. Did you guess the ending? It’s so obvious… so, My Blueberry Nights ends happily of course.
So, this is what My Blueberry Nights is about in brief. Well, it’s not so bad for Wong Kar Wei’s first film in English, and it was presented for the opening of the Cannes Film Festival in 20007.
If you like blueberry pie or romance, this is the very film for you. The My Blueberry Nights soundtrack features Norah Jones of course and a lot of soothing blues music that makes this movie perfect for a Sunday evening.
