The Japanese tattoos have an abstract beauty that determines many people to get tattooed with a Japanese initial. Find out about the three main categories of Japanese writing and the Japanese tattoos.

Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana all sound like foreign languages and they are indeed Japanese types of calligraphy. From these, the Japanese tattoos were derived, tattoo designs that are of enormous beauty. The Japanese tattoos are symbols of traditions from the Oriental spaces, and bear also a special attraction as they designate something with a meaning that is not accessible for anyone.

Each of the three types of Japanese tattoo calligraphies has its specificity.

The Kanji is the most popular writing chosen for Japanese tattoos. The Kanji tattoos are very expressive. There are over 40,000 Kanji symbols and each of these may be transformed into Japanese tattoos. Each Kanji designates an idea of its own.

The Hiragana is the Japanese writing that is currently used by Japanese people. The hiragana writing is not as expressive as Kanji, and has mostly round shapes. Hiragana is used in media and newspapers, so if you want abstract Japanese tattoos, you should be looking at Kanji tattoos.

Last but not least, the Katakana writing style also inspires many Japanese tattoo designs. The Katakana is in many ways like the Hiragana writing, having 46 symbols- which are like letters, forming the words. Katakana writing and words are in majority words imported in the Japanese language. As aspect, the Japanese tattoos that have Katakana symbols are sharper than Hiragana symbols.

Now that you know the three Japanese tattoo design styles derived from the main calligraphy styles, you can opt for one. Just make sure you get the entire meaning of the symbol or symbols that you choose to combine in your Japanese tattoos, as Japanese is a very complex language that bears deep meanings. The safest thing is to consult with a Japanese person to confirm you the meaning of the tattoo you want to get done, or go to a professional tattoo artist who specializes in Japanese tattoos and Oriental tattoos.
